Actaea simplex ‘Hillside Black Beauty’

The darkest-leaved bugbane with copper-purple foliage and white flowers in fall. Fabulous. Though tolerant of a full range of light conditions, Actaea (formerly Cimicifuga) are a great way to add fragrance to the shadier garden. Especially attractive when combined with variegated or golden foliage. Photo courtesy of Walters Gardens.
