Calanthe nipponica
Calanthe nipponica has creamy white to yellow lips with green tepals. A rare hardy orchid for the shade garden.
This is a rare orchid from high altitude mountains in Japan. The pleated leaves form a rosette surrounding the slender spikes that holds from 6 to 8 flowers in spring. The flowers have white to yellow lips surrounded by lime green tepals. Virus-free plants from flasked seedlings. Vigorous blooming size plants. Calanthes are hardy terrestrial orchids for classic shade garden conditions. They are relatively easy to grow in rich, well-drained soils in part shade.
