Echinops ritro ssp. ruthenicus ‘Platinum Blue’ is a stunning architectural perennial that offers deeply divided basal, thistle-like leaves on silvery stems topped with dramatic lavender-blue spheres of starry flowers. The individual florets first open at the top of the sphere and continue opening downwards until the heads are in full bloom. Will pop in the mixed border with Phlox, Monarda and ornamental grasses for dramatic appeal. Also great in the rock garden and as cut flowers. Incredibly popular with bees. Deer and rabbit resistant.
