Eryngium ‘Big Blue’ is one of the best sea hollies with blooms of iridescent blue pincushions and bracts on branching blue stems to 30 inches tall. It also sports bluish green leaves. This peculiar genus from the carrot family is found around the world but with its centre of diversity in South America. There are also a number of European species. Fabulous grown en masse, in the perennial border, whether in formal or cottage garden styles, as well as in the pollinator and xeriscape gardens. Popular with bees and butterflies. Deer resistant.
