Muhlenbergia capillaris is an eastern North American native forming tidy clumps of fine blue foliage that provide valuable colour and texture to the garden. But it is in late summer that the plants explode into stunning clouds of airy pink. Intolerant of winter wet so plant in hot dry conditions and poor soils. Provide as much heat as you possibly can to bring plants into flower, especially on the West Coast. Luckily, ‘Fast Forward’ is also cooperative as it blooms 3 weeks earlier than the normal species.
