Stylophorum diphyllum

Stylophorum diphyllum, the celandine or wood poppy, has bright yellow poppy-like flowers from silver-hairy buds that bloom in early spring over blue-green foliage with silvery undersides. It will self-seed gently and form a great shade ground cover. Will grow in all but the driest conditions in shade and part shade. The stems contain bright yellow sap that was used traditionally as a dye by aboriginal peoples. Proving hardy in zone 3 Calgary for our friend Mark P.!
