Description
Acer palmatum ‘Butterfly’ has small, mid green, serrated leaves variably variegated with white. Some leaves will have a thin white edge (pictured) while other leaves can be mostly white or mostly green. Young leaves have a pink flush. In the autumn the white portions of the leaves turn scarlet to magenta. 10′ tall x 4′ wide in 10 years. Japanese maples change through the seasons generally offering different colours and foliage patterns through spring, summer, and fall. We choose our photo to show the most distinctive characters but an internet image search will help you understand how each cultivar will change through the seasons.
