Description
The sea buckthorn or sea berry (Hippophae rhamnoides) is a super hardy, super healthy, and super delicious berry for juice and preserves. Berries ripen in August. They are tart and pungent and can be eaten fresh but are usually juiced and diluted with up to 70% water and a little sugar for an amazing and healthy juice filled with vitamin C, A, and E. You can also make jams and jellies. The fruit of sea buckthorn has seven times the vitamin C of citrus! Wind pollinated. Use the male ‘Pollmix’ to pollinate a nearby female such as ‘Hergo’. Very tolerant of cold, high winds, coastal conditions, and poor soils. Photo: Wikipedia.
